Inside Sarah Palin's Movie Premiere For 'The Undefeated' (The Hollywood Reporter)

Despite announcing that press would be banned from theater, a few media outlets (including THR) obtained last-minute seats for the debut of the former VP candidate's documentary.

PELLA, IOWA – They sure do movie premieres funny around here.

There was no red carpet and no bright lights – it wasn’t even dark yet. And the biggest celebrity in attendance, Sarah Palin, decided at the last moment not to pull up to the theater in an SUV but to park it around the corner and stroll down the street unannounced. She was about 50 yards out when the media hordes noticed and repositioned their cameras.

Palin was in Pella – population 10,000 – for the world premiere of The Undefeated, a documentary about her political career. She was dressed casually in bellbottom jeans and a shiny, silver belt, and was accompanied by her husband, Todd.

Poll Reveals Poorer And Less Educated Voters Support Sarah Palin, Wealthier Voters Prefer Romney (Mediaite)

May 9th, 2011

A new Gallup poll reveals that voters who identify as more conservative, do not have college degrees and who make less than $24,000 annually are more likely to support former Alaska governor Sarah Palin over Mitt Romney for president in 2012. Romney, on the other hand, has evidently fared better with voters who describe themselves as “liberals to moderate”, have received degrees of higher learning and who make at least $90,000 a year.

Alabama Chief Justice Who Refused to Remove Ten Commandments Monument Is Exploring Presidential Bid (New York Magazine)

Former Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee, speak...Mike Huckabee, image via WikipediaEmailTwitterFacebookLinkedInYoutube

Consider the GOP primary goalpost moved once again: even further to the right. Roy Moore, the Alabama Supreme Court chief justice who made headlines in the early aughts for installing — and then refusing to remove — a stone monument to the Ten Commandments in front of his courthouse, has launched an exploratory committee to look into a 2012 presidential run. (Moore was eventually ordered to remove it by a federal judge, but he disobeyed the order. Eventually, his eight fellow Supreme Court jurists voted to remove it, and in 2003 voted to remove Moore from office — but not before he became an icon for the religious right, with the backing of Jerry Falwell.) Moore has run for public office before — in 2006 he lost the Alabama GOP gubernatorial primary to sitting governor Bob Riley.

Moore appears, from his website, to be a serious candidate. He's working with Danny Carroll, who worked with Mike Huckabee in Iowa in 2008. He's on the record as being anti-gay (he ruled that Alabama should use its powers to punish the practice of homosexuality) and returning Christianity to schools. And he's already tossing red meat to the social conservatives that Donald Trump, Rick Santorum, Huckabee, and Sarah Palin are competing to woo (with varying degrees of seriousness).

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong: Palin, Huckabee ‘Rotten To The Core,’ Democrats Are ‘Fu*king P***ies’ (Mediaite)

Billie Joe ArmstrongCover of Billie Joe ArmstrongEmailTwitterFacebookLinkedInYoutube

by Mark Joyella
April 18th, 2011

In an interview with Details magazine, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong offers his thoughts on today’s political climate, saying “the Democrats are a bunch of f**king pussies. It was so smart for the Republicans to embrace the Tea Party: ‘We don’t believe everything you say, but we’ll listen to you.’ I get more confused every day.”

He also takes on Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee:

On Sarah Palin: “I listen to the shit that comes out of her mouth, and I’m just in awe. These are Sunday-school teachers becoming politicians. Mike Huckabee? He’s the guy that diddled you while holding the Bible. He’s so soft-spoken, so Mr. Rogers. Palin is the same—it’s this sneaky way to make Americans feel comfortable, but you know they’re rotten to the core.”

Fox and Friends: Sarah Palin Says ‘Fight Like a Girl’ in ‘That Distinctive Voice’ (Mediaite)

by Tommy Christopher
April 17th, 2011

On Sunday morning’s Fox & Friends, co-anchors Dave Briggs,  Molly Line, and Clayton Morris opened the show’s third hour with a rundown of Sarah Palin’s speech to a Tea Party crowd in Wisconsin. The team played a teaser clip of Palin saying the GOP needs to “fight like a girl,” with Line cutting in to note “that distinctive voice!”

Line’s remark was obviously not intended as a slam against Palin, but it didn’t exactly sound like a compliment, either.

Later in the segment, a purple bow-tied Briggs (perhaps channeling Tucker Carlson in his Erotic City phase) offered his own interpretation of Palin’s entreaty, saying “They (girls) gossip, they do it behind your back. Just kidding, ladies!”

Earth to Sarah Palin: Why the Words "Blood Libel" Should Be Taken Seriously (Where Is Cassandra?)

pic of book cover, back, frontImage via Wikipedia January 14, 2011

"It should always be taken seriously when people use code words like "blood libel". These are words laden with meaning for the Jewish people, as they refer to anti-semitic beliefs that date from medieval times that were used to subjugate and (possibly) justify the holocaust.

"There is another strong piece of anti-semitic literature called "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion." This is a Russian hoax/forgery drummed up in the late 19th century that purported to be the blueprint of the Zionist takeover of the world. It is the worst kind of hatemongering cloaked in wolves' clothing. It was used to justify pogroms and the rise and development of the Third Reich. It is still extremely popular today in certain circles.

"If you want a brilliant, graphic re-telling of the "Protocols" and its origins, read Will Eisner's (the creator of The Spirit, among other things) "The Plot". It was his last great work and one he'd prepared for all his life..."

Sarah Palin To Fox News: I Don’t Want To Talk To Media Oulets Other Than Fox News (Mediaite)

Cookoo ClockImage by GregTheBusker via Flickrby Ray Rahman
November 5th, 2010

During Fox News’ election coverage, on a night when attention should’ve been on actual candidates, Shepard Smith turned his attention to his colleague Sarah Palin. If she does one day decide to run for office, Smith asked her, would she talk to media outlets that aren’t Fox News, the network at which she currently has exclusive “protection”? Palin’s answer was not promising—for curious voters or for her potential candidacy.

She began by reminding Smith that she can’t be “constrained”: “I can still talk to whomever I want to.”

Next for GOP leaders: Stopping Sarah Palin (Politico)

Sarah Palin holding a T-shirt related to the G...Sarah Palin, image via Wikipedia

Top Republicans in Washington and in the national GOP establishment say the 2010 campaign highlighted an urgent task that they will begin in earnest as soon as the elections are over: Stop Sarah Palin.

Interviews with advisers to the main 2012 presidential contenders and with other veteran Republican operatives make clear they see themselves on a common, if uncoordinated, mission of halting the momentum and credibility Palin gained with conservative activists by plunging so aggressively into this year’s midterm campaigns. Glenn Beck And Bill O’Reilly Spar Over Who The Leader Of America Is (Mediaite)

Glenn BeckGlenn Beck, image via Wikipediaby Frances Martel
September 18th, 2010
Whenever Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly appear together, it doesn’t take long to find an issue on which they disagree (for example, O’Reilly is not overly concerned about the biblical vermin invading the White House). On last night’s Beck “casual Friday” appearance on The O’Reilly Factor, they delivered their classic banter, this time on why Beck thinks he is not the leader of the Tea Party movement nor Barack Obama the leader of America.

O’Reilly names Beck, along with Sarah Palin, as leaders of the Tea Party movement in his new book, Pinheads and Patriots. Beck first takes issue with calling famous left-wing donation machine and conservative Bogeyman George Soros a “pinhead” (“if Soros is in it,” Beck offers, best to “rename it Angels and Demons”). “You and I are in simpatico on this one,” O’Reilly offers hopelessly, trying to explain the issue is one of semantics. Then Beck reads an excerpt from the book referring to him, and objects to the label “Tea Party leader”– “I’m not leading it.”

(Newser) – After Arnold Schwarzenegger needled Sarah Palin via Twitter about being able to see Russia from his plane, she got the last word (we hope) in a new tweet: "Arnold should have landed; I could have explained our multi-billion dollar state surplus & US energy security efforts. What's he been up to? " Now everyone step away from the Blackberry, please. Read Arnold's jab in full here.

Meghan McCain Wants To Send Laura Ingraham A ‘Plus-Sized’ Fruit Basket (Mediaite)

Meghan McCain at UC Berkeley.Meghan McCain, image via Wikipediaby Glynnis MacNicol
September 12th, 2010

The New York Times has fallen for Meghan McCain. The Style Section may not be the all-powerful arbiter of importance it used to be, but it’s hard not to read their lengthy and glowing feature on @McCainBlogette as some sort of ‘here is the future of politics’ official coming out party.

As you likely know Meghan McCain has just published Dirty Sexy Politics, her memoir of the 2008 election campaign, to pretty warm reviews and has been making the media rounds all week. In the article the NYT tackles some of McCain’s more tangled relationships with women during and after the campaign specifically Laura Ingraham (who famously dismissed her as “plus-sized” ), Sarah Palin (whom she calls a “the most beautiful politician I had ever seen” and a “ticking time bomb”), and First Lady Laura Bush.

The Case for Why Sarah Palin Won’t Run for President

Sarah Palin dresses like porn’s “naughty” scho...Image by Image Editor via Flickr

When news surfaced yesterday that Sarah Palin would be venturing to Iowa to headline the GOP's annual Reagan Day Dinner on September 17, she sparked a new round of media speculation about her 2012 presidential ambitions. Ever since Palin resigned from the Governor’s Mansion last summer, the will-she-or-won’t-she guessing game that occupies the minds of Republicans (and many optimistic Democrats) has turbocharged her appeal as a national figure.

But the trip to Iowa, like almost anything to do with Palin, can be read in a number of ways. On the one hand, it might be an earnest attempt to begin to build a campaign. But it’s also, certainly, an effective move for a media figure like Palin — Matt Drudge played it huge. For Palin, running for president is partly a kind of profit center. "It’s an industry to write about Sarah and put her on TV,” John Coale, the prominent Democratic lawyer and husband of Fox News anchor Greta Van Susteren, told me. “We’re two years into this and people are still fascinated by her. But, if she doesn’t run, does she maintain this interest?”

Primary losses blunt Palin's 'mama grizzly' claws (AP)

Sarah Palin - Bear SkinSarah Palin, image by smiteme via Flickr WASHINGTON — It's been a summer of setbacks for Sarah Palin. Candidate "cubs" endorsed by the Mama Grizzly in Chief have been suffering a recent string of primary election losses.

The Republicans' 2008 vice presidential nominee promised a pack of "mama grizzly" candidates would rise up and defeat Democrats in this November's elections. But office-seekers she supported in Kansas, Wyoming and Washington state lost their primaries despite her high-profile endorsements. And Karen Handel lost her runoff contest for Georgia governor a day after sharing an Atlanta stage with Palin.

Now, Alaska's Senate primary on Tuesday is shaping up as an embarrassing defeat in her own backyard. Sen. Lisa Murkowski is expected to dispatch the challenger Palin has endorsed in the Republican contest.

Palin says it isn't about picking winners.

"Regardless of whether the many candidates I've had the honor of endorsing win or lose this time around, I support them because they boldly shake things up in their primary races," she said in a Facebook message.

Mama Grizzlies Video: Sarah Doesn't Speak for Me

Glenn Beck Offers Morning Prayers on the Road to Mending America (BlogTalkRadio.com)

Glenn: Gathering at Abe's feet to protect our freedom.
Glenn: Gathering at Abe's feet to protect our freedom.
If you’re among the millions of Americans looking to restore the values upon which our great nation was built, you’ll no doubt want to mark Saturday, Aug. 28 on your calendar.

Because that’s when Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation gather at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

There they’ll hold a non- political rally paying tribute to America’s military personnel and other upstanding citizens who embody our Founding Fathers’ principles of integrity, truth and honor.

(Aug. 28 also marks the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech, delivered from that very same location.)

The mission of this event is to recognize First Amendment rights and honor the service members who fight to protect those freedoms.
