The job-killing governor (St. Petersburg Times Editorial)
Rick Scott, image via WikipediaEmail • Twitter • Facebook • LinkedIn • YouTube
Gov. Rick Scott will sign into law today a $69.7 billion state budget for 2011-12 that he boasts is all about creating jobs and reducing Florida's high unemployment. In fact, it is a job-killing budget that threatens the state's anemic recovery and makes the state less attractive to new residents and businesses. The governor and the Legislature are starving the state instead of investing in it. Let us count the ways they are undermining Florida's economy:
1 State workers Positions in prisons, social services and other areas have been slashed. Scott says he's only interested in private sector jobs. State employees buy houses, cars and appliances, too — even if they have not had raises in five years. Estimated Jobs lost: 4,500.
2 Public schools Spending will drop by $542 per student, or 8 percent. School districts are sending out lay-off notices to thousands of teachers, including 1,400 in Broward and 1,100 in Pinellas. Some of those could keep their jobs. But Pasco schools could eliminate 470 overall positions and Pinellas could cut 400 positions. School districts are the largest employers in many counties. Estimated jobs lost: THOUSANDS.

A Keith Olbermann Hint From Morning Joe (The Daily Beast)
Joe Scarborough, image via WikipediaEmail • Twitter • Facebook • LinkedIn • YouTube

May 26, 2011
Joe Scarborough's morning-show banter turned mysterious Wednesday when he appeared to link the media fallout after the Tucson shooting to Keith Olbermann's exit from MSNBC. Wayne Barrett on the possible connection.
Joe Scarborough made an odd comment on Wednesday morning about the Tucson shooting that got me thinking.
Gabriel Sherman was the guest. His recent New York magazine cover on Roger Ailes has provoked a lot of talk. Mika Brzezinski steered the conversation to Tucson. Sherman wrote that it was "a turning point" for Ailes and that Ailes "told all of our guys, 'Shut up, tone it down, make your arguments intellectually'" after the rampage, which some said was tied to the red-hot level of public debate. Brzezinski and Sherman simultaneously used the word "civility" as the Ailes-approved outcome of the tragedy.

Ooh La La! Inside the Swanky Sex Club Dominique Strauss-Kahn Reportedly Frequented (Vanity Fair)
Dominique Strauss-Kahn, image via WikipediaEmail • Twitter • Facebook • LinkedIn • YouTube
Les Chandelles is an upscale Paris swingers club—club privat or club exchangiste in the local parlance—that Dominique Strauss-Kahn is alleged to have frequented, according to local gossip and British tabloid reports.
You would never find Les Chandelles if you didn’t know what you were looking for. It’s located in an unprepossessing building at 1 Rue Therese, inhabiting a boring, rather flat quartier of the First Arrondissement with obscure boutiques and undistinguished Japanese restaurants, near the Bourse, the Paris stock market, and the Palais-Royal, the former home of Cardinal Richelieu.
Typically, you have to go to Les Chandelles after midnight, and you first need to get past the unsmiling doorman, like Cerberus at the gates of the underworld, who allegedly turns away as many people as he lets in. Singles are not allowed, except during special daylight hours: lunchtime specials, so to speak.
But it’s not a pickup joint. If you and your partner are lucky enough to find an inviting hand on one of your arms, then you join in the fun. But no one forces you to do anything. You can stand and watch all night, or just sit at the bar and soak up the pheromones, watching the beautiful, rather spoilt-looking clientele at play. Or you can go in the back, with your partner, and join in. “It’s not threesomes,” a French friend of mine explained. “It’s x-somes. Meaning as many as you want.”

MSNBC suspends Schultz for calling Ingraham a 'slut' (Politico.com)
Ed Schultz and Laura Ingraham, image by Dan Patterson via FlickrEmail • Twitter • Facebook • LinkedIn • YouTube
“Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” MSNBC said in a statement Wednesday evening.
Schultz will address the remarks on his television show Wednesday night, and begin his leave immediately afterward, MSNBC said.
The Daily Caller first noted the epithet in the midst of Schultz's critique of Ingraham’s criticisms of the president’s trip to Ireland.
“And what do the Republicans thinking about?” Schultz said. “They’re not thinking about their next-door neighbor. They’re just thinking about how much this is going to cost. President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Mo., on Sunday but you know what they’re talking about, like this right-wing slut, what’s her name?, Laura Ingraham? Yeah, she’s a talk slut. You see, she was, back in the day, praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obama’s doing it, they’re working him over.”
Ingraham reponded via her Facebook page on Wednesday.
“Re. the crude comments made about me by Ed Schultz on his radio program: First, I was surprised to learn that Ed Schultz actually hosted a radio show. Is it only available online?” she wrote. “ Second, I have to get back to recording the audio edition of my new book "Of Thee I Zing." Now I'm tempted to insert one additional zing--about men who preach civility but practice misogyny.”

Ronald Reagan’s Daughter Patti Davis Poses Naked At 58 (Styleite.com)

In this month’s issue of More magazine, Ronald Reagan’s daughter strips down for the camera. She is 58. This isn’t the first time Patti Davis has been photographed naked. At 42, she posed for Playboy. And while posing nude isn’t exactly a novel idea, her thoughts on body image — particularly as a recovering addict — are.
Her body is beautiful — and not just because wow — but because of what she’s put it through.

Beck's social buying site is socialist in nature, no?
Image via WikipediaEmail • Twitter • Facebook • LinkedIn • YouTube
My least favorite human on the planet is getting into the group-buying business.
Conservative Ass Hat Glenn Beck announced he is launching a competitor to Groupon, Living Social and thousands of other sites. Unlike all those other sites, however, Beck's Markdown.com is a place where his "personal slogan and values will be brought to life."
Here's my problem – other than the obvious one involving Beck: Aren't sites like Groupon and Living Social inherently socialist? Think about it. The collective benefits from the discounts offered as long as enough people participate during the allotted time. Granted, the companies are not being FORCED to sell at a discount, but these companies also have a market. They have determined the price they can charge based on the time and effort that goes in to making the product, which is very market driven. Now Beck wants them to throw out these market dynamics and sell at a discount.
It's a stretch, but I hate this guy. I will gladly take any opportunity to fling monkey poo in his direction.
