MSNBC finally took Mark Halperin off the air for all the wrong reasons this week after he said President Obama acted like a "dick" because he dared to call out the Republicans for acting like spoiled children during these debt ceiling talks. I wonder what it would take to get this racist relic Pat Buchanan to finally leave their airwaves as well?

The mild mannered Martin Bashir, who actually did a good job of calling out Mitch McConnell the previous day with his revisionist history on who's to blame for our deficit skyrocketing, found himself outgunned by the volatile and aggressive Pat Buchanan during this segment where Buchanan was brought on to discuss the negotiations over raising the debt ceiling, and where Buchanan insisted that Republicans should stick to their guns no matter what and force Democrats and President Obama to accept massive budget cuts with absolutely no increases in taxes, even if those taxes are on a privileged few, like private jet owners.

A Keith Olbermann Hint From Morning Joe (The Daily Beast)

Former Congressman and current television host...Joe Scarborough, image via WikipediaEmailTwitterFacebookLinkedInYouTube

May 26, 2011

Joe Scarborough's morning-show banter turned mysterious Wednesday when he appeared to link the media fallout after the Tucson shooting to Keith Olbermann's exit from MSNBC. Wayne Barrett on the possible connection.

Joe Scarborough made an odd comment on Wednesday morning about the Tucson shooting that got me thinking.

Gabriel Sherman was the guest. His recent New York magazine cover on Roger Ailes has provoked a lot of talk. Mika Brzezinski steered the conversation to Tucson. Sherman wrote that it was "a turning point" for Ailes and that Ailes "told all of our guys, 'Shut up, tone it down, make your arguments intellectually'" after the rampage, which some said was tied to the red-hot level of public debate. Brzezinski and Sherman simultaneously used the word "civility" as the Ailes-approved outcome of the tragedy.

MSNBC has suspended Ed Schultz for one week without pay for calling Laura Ingraham a ‘right-wing slut’ on his radio program Tuesday.

“Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” MSNBC said in a statement Wednesday evening.

Schultz will address the remarks on his television show Wednesday night, and begin his leave immediately afterward, MSNBC said.

The Daily Caller first noted the epithet in the midst of Schultz's critique of Ingraham’s criticisms of the president’s trip to Ireland.

“And what do the Republicans thinking about?” Schultz said. “They’re not thinking about their next-door neighbor. They’re just thinking about how much this is going to cost. President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Mo., on Sunday but you know what they’re talking about, like this right-wing slut, what’s her name?, Laura Ingraham? Yeah, she’s a talk slut. You see, she was, back in the day, praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obama’s doing it, they’re working him over.”

Ingraham reponded via her Facebook page on Wednesday.

“Re. the crude comments made about me by Ed Schultz on his radio program: First, I was surprised to learn that Ed Schultz actually hosted a radio show. Is it only available online?” she wrote. “ Second, I have to get back to recording the audio edition of my new book "Of Thee I Zing." Now I'm tempted to insert one additional zing--about men who preach civility but practice misogyny.”

MSNBC president Phil Griffin made the decision after learning Olbermann donated to three Democratic candidates this election cycle.

Keith Olbermann has been suspended without pay from MSNBC after it was learned he donated to three Democrats this election. Chris Hayes will fill in for him Friday night.

"I became aware of Keith's political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay," MSNBC president Phil Griffin said in a statement, as obtained by The Huffington Post.

The Countdown host donated $2,400 each to Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, and to Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway, Politico reported Friday.

Angry Ron Paul Accuses Lawrence O’Donnell Of Breaking Pre-Show Agreement (Mediaite)

by Frances Martel
October 12th, 2010

In what is unarguably the most explosive interview in the infancy of The Last Word, Republican Rep. Ron Paul had a logisitical on-air disagreement with host Lawrence O’Donnell that, while not the centerpiece of the discussion on the Tea Party, certainly colored the rest of the debate an ugly shade of contentious and uncomfortable that recalled his son Rand’s debate with Rachel Maddow.
