South Carolina Democratic Senate nominee Alvin Greene was indicted Friday on felony charges of showing pornography to a college student.

Greene, an unemployed 32-year-old military veteran, had refused to discuss the charges, which surfaced after he was the surprise winner of the state’s June Democratic primary over better-known Charleston City Councilman Vic Rawl.

Hot Potatoe: Ben Quayle Wrote for a Sex Site (Newser.com)

(Newser) – Ben Quayle’s Arizona congressional campaign hit a teeny tiny snag yesterday, when it was revealed that the 33-year-old had once been a contributing writer for Dirty Scottsdale, a raunchy sex site covering the club scene in his town. Quayle—who is indeed, if you were wondering, the son of Dan—initially denied the reports, but then admitted that he’d posted to the site “to try to drive some traffic.” Check out Quayle's prose, written under the name Brock Landers, here.

Dan Quayle's little boy, all growed up in the Sarah Palin generation!

My name is Ben Quayle and I sometimes wonder why Sarah Palin wasn't elected Vice President. Because if my Daddy could do the job, then certainly the former Governor of Alaska was qualified!

The woman who sparked a national firestorm by recounting Rand Paul's
youthful indiscretions to GQ magazine is now clarifying her account: She says she was not kidnapped nor forced to do drugs by Paul.

But she reiterated other odd aspects of her earlier story, including her claim that Paul and another college friend blindfolded her, tied her up, and told her to smoke pot and worship the "Aqua Buddha," even if they didn't physically force her to do these things.

Here’s a story that's burning up media tubes in D.C.

On Monday, GQ published a report about Republican Rand Paul, who is running for Kentucky's open U.S. Senate seat. In it, GQ claims that, in 1983, Paul – then a student at Baylor University – and a classmate once kidnapped a woman and tried to force her to take bong hits.

According to this woman, who requested anonymity because of her current job as a clinical psychologist, "He and Randy came to my house, they knocked on my door, and then they blindfolded me, tied me up, and put me in their car. They took me to their apartment and tried to force me to take bong hits. They'd been smoking pot." After the woman refused to smoke with them, Paul and his friend put her back in their car and drove to the countryside outside of Waco, where they stopped near a creek. "They told me their god was 'Aqua Buddha' and that I needed to bow down and worship him," the woman recalls. "They blindfolded me and made me bow down to 'Aqua Buddha' in the creek. I had to say, 'I worship you Aqua Buddha, I worship you.' At Baylor, there were people actively going around trying to save you and we had to go to chapel, so worshiping idols was a big no-no."

Esquire Writer On Newt Gingrich: ‘It Was The Racism That Threw Me’ (Mediaite)

Yesterday Esquire released a rather explosive 8,000 word essay about former Clinton-era Speaker of the House and presumptive GOP Presidentail Candidate Newt Gingrich. The epic expose is sure to make a lot of news, and become an ongoing factor in Gingrich’s political future, because the writer chose a very interesting method of getting to know the candidate: by interviewing his ex-wife Marianne Gingrich. In a follow up blog post, writer John H. Richardson revealed his motivation behind the interview: his racist comments.

In a separate blog post entitled “Why Marianne Gingrich Told Me About a Vulnerable Newt,” Richardson opened:
It was the racism that threw me. As a reporter, I’ve always believed that everyone has some kind of inner coherence. No matter how inexplicable their behavior may be, there is always logic somewhere.
This proved true with a multitude of subjects, from murderers to movie stars. Until Newt Gingrich.
