Ann Coulter And Laura Ingraham Discuss “Save The Whale, Abort The Baby” Environmentalists (Mediaite)

Ann Coulter and O’Reilly Factor guest host Laura Ingraham made some really good points tonight while discussing Discovery Channel hostage taker James Jay Lee. Coulter said that we can’t generalize fans of Al Gore just because one of them went crazy while Ingraham admonished Liberals for generalizing Conservatives whenever another tragedy happens and the shoe’s on the other foot. Of course, these good points were slightly muddied by all the comments around them about how all environmentalists want a world without humans and love earthworms more than people and so on and so forth.

World Net Daily Partially “Dumps” Ann Coulter Over “HomoConflict” (Mediaite)

by Tommy Christopher
August 18th, 2010

Conservative website World Net Daily has scored another meta-exclusive, announcing that World Net Daily has “dumped” lightning rod Ann Coulter over a “Homoconflict.” CEO Joseph Farah told his own website that it would be dropping Coulter as keynote speaker at its “Taking Back America” conference because she has agreed to headline GOProud’s Homocon 2010.
Lest you think that Coulter has defiantly pitched a rainbow flag, however, she will continue as a WND columnist, and in remarks to WND, doesn’t exactly lock arms with GOProud.

Coulter took fire from gay conservatives a few years back when she used an anti-gay epithet in reference to then-candidate John Edwards. According to The Daily Caller, though, some think that Coulter has changed her stripes:
“If she can help other conservatives turn the corner on equality for gays and lesbian Americans … then more power to her,” said R. Clarke Cooper, executive director of Log Cabin Republicans. About Coulter’s comments three years ago: “People are allowed to evolve.”
In an update to the same piece, however, GOProud seems to disagree:
GOProud Board Chairman Christopher R. Barron issued this statement Wednesday morning: “We did not invite Ann Coulter to speak at Homocon 2010 because we believe she has ‘evolved.’”

Ann Coulter: Calling Sestak Job Offer ‘Business As Usual’ Is Like Telling Your Mom ‘Everybody Does It’ (Mediaite)

Pennsylvania Congressman Joe Sestak’s allegation that the White House offered him a job in exchange for his backing down from running against Democratic Senator Arlen Specter is the kind of story that seems to never die. Keeping the flames burning are last night’s Geraldo at Large panel, where host Kimberly Guilfoyle wondered about the White House’s “sinister” intentions and Ann Coulter offered as proof of improprieties the fact that the job was not given.
On a panel with Fox News political analyst Juan Williams and former White House counsel David Rivkin, Guilfoyle made it clear that she is not buying the claim that nothing inappropriate happened, and that she suspects perhaps White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel of being the guilty party:
“I think that’s kind of a ruse, this whole thing about Bill Clinton… this is just a distraction, throw Bill Clinton across the screen here, ok? So people are chasing after Bubba gone run amok, and, in the meantime, the story is perhaps Rahm Emanuel. Because right now what they’re suggesting isn’t going to get Clinton in any trouble for offering some kind of paid position, the fact pattern doesn’t match up with what Sestak is saying, so perhaps an investigation is warranted.”

University to Ann Coulter: Please watch your mouth (National Post)

Before right-wing U.S. pundit Ann Coulter even set a stilettoed foot on this side of the border for a trio of speaking engagements this week, she managed to make a few Canadians nervous.

Ms. Coulter catapulted to international notoriety two days after the 9/11 attacks with a column in the National Review in which she advocated conquering Muslim countries and converting the people to Christianity. But as the columnist prepares to visit Canada this week to speak at three universities, a senior University of Ottawa administrator has warned her to use "restraint, respect and consideration" when speaking at the school.

Francois Houle, vice-president academic and provost, advises Ms. Coulter, who holds a law degree, to review Canada's hate speech and defamation laws before giving her talk at the university.

In an email sent to Ms. Coulter on Friday, a copy of which has been obtained by the National Post, Mr. Houle wrote: "Our domestic laws, both provincial and federal, delineate freedom of expression (or "free speech") in a manner that is somewhat different than the approach taken in the United States. I therefore encourage you to educate yourself, if need be, as to what is acceptable in Canada and to do so before your planned visit here."

He continued, "Promoting hatred against any identifiable group would not only be considered inappropriate, but could in fact lead to criminal charges."

After also mentioning defamation law, the provost wrote, "I therefore ask you, while you are a guest on our campus, to weigh your words with respect and civility in mind."
